Architecture has always used tricks, such as trompe l'oeil, but I find them pompous, I really like magician's tricks, they leave you dumbfounded, and sometimes I use them to solve a "mission impossible" it makes me feel clever, at least once in a while. And after all, it's about lying for a good cause.
This hotel in Milan was built over a cinema, it is very nice, but it has always been penalised by a too-small entrance, right next to the cinema's security exit. How sad....
And here's the trick: a new façade incorporating the emergency exit, with a fake backlit window at the top, a large canopy...

et voila!
