The guest or the guests?
Why do we always say 'the guest' of the hotel, in the singular? Because the stereotypical idea is that of an abstract 'typical client',
who does not exist. In reality, the hotel experiences a very special condition, whereby many very different people find themselves living together for a certain time on a voluntary basis (unlike in a hospital, barracks, or jail). This pure reality cannot be ignored because,
if we think about it, it could generate interesting situations and interactions, something that would make the hotel a living body,
less encased in the usual stereotypes, capable of triggering unpredictable encounters between different people, experiences and cultures.
I have some ideas in this regard...
