When I was ten years old I used to make things out of recycled materials, come home from school and find them destroyed by my younger brother. I soon began to understand how hard it is to be a designer.

At 16 I had my first 'studio', rented for two liras in an old house, unbeknownst to my parents. In that dull little town, those two rooms were my boundless, heady, confused space, where my great escape matured.

Which came at the age of 20: I landed in Milan, and discovered the New World. For three of my five happy years of study I attended two universities at the same time: design at the IED and Architecture at the Politecnico. The IED gave me a magic wand to tackle any kind of project. Then another master,

Vittorio, the architect who taught me what real work is. I am forever grateful to both of them.

Milan is truly the world centre of design, where else to settle if not here? 

Then at 40, I landed in Taipei for work and discovered Asia. It was love at first sight and
I haven't stopped working there since: Taiwan, China, and now Vietnam.
A formidable human and professional training ground.
